Culture, Enlightenment and Terror Await in the Art Museum Area
The Philadelphia Museum district plays host to some of the region’s most exciting events and destinations. Take a peek at this video for an overview of the region and then we will take a closer look below.
Culture & Condos in Philadelphia
If cultural enrichment is what you seek, The Barnes Foundation is now one of the newest buildings on the block and is the new home to the paintings of some very old masters like Renoir, Matisse, Cezanne and a wonderful collection of sculptures, Native American ceramics and decorative antiquities. For scientific enlightenment, The Franklin Institute boasts exhibits focused on space exploration, a giant human heart and Sir Issac Newton’s loft. There is a Planetarium, one of the original IMAX theaters in a dome shape and a 3D theater that brings animals and mummies to life. Camps and workshops entertain teachers, students and inquiring adult minds alike. Just behind the Barnes Museum and the Philadelphia Free Library building are two beautiful High Rise Condos on Hamilton Street. A block over are the Townhomes of Buttonwood Square, considered home for many of Philadelphia’s aristocrats.
The Rodin Museum, and the main building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art feature amazing collections of art from around the Globe. Just outside these hallowed halls is the Ben Franklin Parkway stretching from Love Park to the Art Museum steps made famous by the original Rocky movie. This 1.5 mile stretch of road is always in the news with parades, concerts and athletic events to raise awareness.
Townhomes and Row Homes in Fairmont
The Fairmont section of Philadelphia is adjacent to the museum district. You will find the properties on Green Street from 20th to 25th Streets, and Mt. Vernon from 20th St. and westward are beautiful Townhomes ranging from $425,000 for a two bedroom to spectacular 4 bedroom townhomes for sale worth over a million dollars.
Top Restaurants in Fairmont
The Fairmount section of town has gone through revitalization with trendy restaurants, night clubs and boutiques. Rembrandt’s Restaurant is one of our favorites. The London Grill, Jack’s Firehouse and the Urban Saloon all sit in the shadow of the ever present Eastern State Penitentiary.
Terror behind the Walls has become a popular event during the fall at the penitentiary. This gothic structure has become one of the top haunted houses in the country but it is not the only event hosted in this section of town. For breakfast, head on over to The Belgian Café or Mugshots Coffee House.
