Philadelphia Invitational Furniture Show is This Weekend
This weekend is Philadelphia’s 21st Annual Philadelphia Invitational Furniture Show, opening Friday night at the 23rd Street Armory near the Rittenhouse Square, Fitler Square, and Art Museum areas.
This years show will showcase creations by an array of artisans, and features a preview gala that benefits Audubon Pennsylvania. Expect to see fine and handcrafted furnishings that are American-made and combine craft and skill and artful design to being unique elements to your home decor.
Philadelphia has a long an illustrious history of woodworking and furniture making, dating back to the famed era of Benjamin Randolph’s beautiful creations for the infamous Gen. John Cadwalader’s mansion. Today, these pieces are considered prized pieces of Americana and excellent specimens of design and craft – there are Cadwalader Chairs in the collections of prominent museums worldwide, like this one donated by the McNeil America Collection to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Naturally, Philadelphia is still a perfect venue for this nationally recognized event.
Tickets for the preview & opening party on Friday 6pm-9pm are $40. General Admission tickets for the show, which are good for both Saturday and Sunday, are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information, go to http://www.philaifs.com/ or click here to purchase tickets.
