Forty Fort, PA 18704In 1962, at the height of mid-century furniture designer Adrian Pearsall's career, Adrian created an Atomic Age masterpiece. He realized a dream by designing his family's new home, nestled in the mountains north of the Lehigh Valley. Educated as an architect, he incorporated every available modern convenience into a 10,000-square-foot ranch. Finished in 1964, his six-bedroom home successfully brought the outdoors in with floor-to-ceiling glass, exposed stone walls, two atriums (delivered into place by helicopter!), skylights and a spectacular reflecting pond to mark the entrance to the formal dining area. A free-form indoor pool, large in size, extended the home’s party possibilities. Adrian loved a party! Outside, a regulation-size tennis court, enclosed rear yard and garden provided space for all sorts of activities. Additional amenities include an ice cream bar and fountain in the kitchen, photo dark room, guest quarters and original lighting and other fixtures selected by Adrian himself. Featured in the Winter 2011 edition of “Atomic Ranch” magazine, this is a dream house for the mid-century design buff, and its new owner will own an amazing piece of Atomic Age history.
