Ardmore Real Estate is located on the eastern end of the Main Line.

Ardmore is probably best known for the shopping options it brings to residents of this desirable area. Suburban Square, the "anchor" for this town, has the distinction of being one of the earliest shopping centers in the United States having opened in 1928. Notable Philadelphia retailer Strawbridge & Clothier launched its first suburban location there in a fabulous Art Deco building in 1930. While that space is now filled by a Macy's and offices, the surrounding shops offer a range of top retail brands and boutiques. Suburban Square creates a very walkable downtown for nearby residents.

The other major draw at Suburban Square (besides the SEPTA train station) is the Ardmore Farmers' Market, a place where fresh fruits and vegetables are offered alongside vendors proffering meats, cheeses, flowers, meals-to-go and other delectable foods. A Trader Joe's and Apple store are two additional retail mainstays at the shopping hub.

Ardmore Real Estate in Lower Merion Township

As a residential neighborhood, Ardmore, like other Main Line communities, grew because of its proximity to the city of Philadelphia. The 7:39 a.m. train gets you to Suburban Station in Philadelphia at 8:03 a.m. -- just enough time to enjoy your coffee before sprinting to your office. The community also has Amtrak train service to points beyond Philadelphia.

Ardmore houses for sale include a mix of single-family homes with prices starting in the low $200,000s for a twin, townhouse or condominium to about $2,000,000 for grand estate homes. The famous "Pont Reading" Ardmore estate home of shipbuilder Joshua Humphreys (he designed "Old Ironsides," among other vessels) is located in Ardmore and is now a private residence. There are some construction projects at various points of completion, including condo conversions and new condo units.

Ardmore is part of Lower Merion School District, a district that consistently is highly rated among all school districts on Pennsylvania -- no surprise, then, that this is a major attraction for Main Line home buyers. The Lower Merion School District includes six elementary, two middle and two high schools. There also are nuccmerous private-school options on the Main Line that are no more than 20 minutes' drive from Ardmore.

Ardmore Recreation

Residents have a few options either in Ardmore or just a short drive from the town, including Ardmore Music Hall, a concert venue that opened in 2013; an indoor ice-skating rink; movie theaters in Narberth and Bryn Mawr and easy access to three neighborhood parks.  There are several estate homes near the Merion Golf Club and if you enjoy golf, it is a wonderful course to play.
