Hunterdon County southwestern New Jersey is still a relatively rural area, although one of the most rapidly growing New Jersey communities. Still an area known for agriculture, the economy is home to a growing professional business community.

Giant mergers during the 1980s and 1990s landed major company headquarters within Hunterdon County’s borders. Newcomers are flocking to the county not only to be closer to their jobs, but also to take advantage of the area’s lower living costs and soothing atmosphere.

This influx of new residents has spurred residential development, creating a continual upward spiral of growth. Mercer County real estate offers Victorians and other alluring classic styles, as well as newer homes.

As far as things to do, the Hunterdon County Park system contains more than 4,700 acres in 18 areas, and sponsors dozens of nature walks, canoe trips and educational programs. The Hunterdon Country Arboretum, a 63-acre park with greenhouse and formal gardens, is one such attraction in the Clinton Township.
