Lambertville, New Jersey, is one of the state's most appealing towns. Located in Hunterdon County along the wide, scenic Delaware River, Lambertville definitely has a small-town feel but with a bit of a hipster vibe. The town has almost 4,000 residents, and most of its housing stock was built in the 19th and early to mid 20th century. That means if you love historic homes, along with a wide array of restaurants and shops, then you'll definitely enjoy Lambertville.

Residents are known for being friendly and welcoming, and it's the perfect little town to take your favorite canine for a walk. Little League fields are within walking distance for most residents, as are most restaurants, the library, the elementary school and the canal towpath, ideal for biking and running. In short, there's a bit of Americana in the air in Lambertville.

The town draws thousands of day tourists and weekenders every year. Many come to browse art galleries, antique shops and the well known Golden Nugget flea market located a few miles south of Lambertville. And most take a stroll over the bridge to New Hope, Pa., another small town with shops and galleries. Plus, each April Lambertville hosts Shad Fest, a two-day celebration of the fish that makes its way each spring from salt water to the fresh water of the Delaware River. Other notable events are the October house tour hosted by the Lambertville Historical Society and the Winter Festival held each February in partnership with New Hope across the river.

Lambertville is convenient to Princeton, Trenton, Flemington and points throughout New Jersey's northeast corridor via Route 202/287 and I-78. Some residents divide their time between homes in Lambertville and New York City. Daily bus service is available to Manhattan, and the ride takes about 90 minutes. Train service to New York and Philadelphia is also available from Trenton's NJ Transit station, which is about a 30 minute drive from Lambertville.
