The Showhouse: See just how elegant condominium living can be at this year’s Designer Showhouse. With a theme of “Renew, Recycle and Rejoice,” Lynda Somach, ASID, and Sheryl Brittle, two of the area’s interior designers, and many other local craftsmen, retailers, and artisans have re-made a 3,000+ square-foot home using a mix of new finishes and furnishings, recycled pieces and classic pieces picked up at auctions and tag sales. The Showhouse is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 3, 4, 5 and 6. Tickets are now available at all area Wegman’s and cost $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.
The Showhouse also has a boutique with holiday gift items donated by local artisans and businesses. All proceeds from the opening night party, daily Showhouse admission and boutique purchases will be donated to Second Harvest to help feed those in need in the Lehigh Valley.

Second Harvest Food Bank distributes food and grocery product to more than 60,000 people each month through a six-county network of nearly 200 member agencies including emergency pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and child care, rehabilitation and senior citizen centers. The Food Bank also serves as an advocate for food assistance programs for people with low income and as a source of education and training for people working to improve food availability and nutrition to those in need. Second Harvest Food Bank is a program of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley and a member of Feeding America, (formerly named America’s Second Harvest), the nation’s largest hunger relief organization.
Lynda Somach, a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, has been an interior designer and space planner in the Lehigh Valley for almost 30 years. Her projects include a day spa in Chicago, condominiums in Florida, apartments in New York City, and a restaurant in the Poconos. Her areas of special interest include kitchen and bath renovations, designing furniture and lighting schemes, and working with clients who are downsizing so that they can blend their existing furnishings with new pieces.
Sheryl Brittle, of Brittle Ltd. Design, attended the Ringling School of Art for interior design and has experience working with a family design firm in South Florida. For the past twelve years, she has been working in the Lehigh Valley for several builders and developers creating functional architectural plans as well as kitchen and bath designs. Her residential interior business focuses on interior design, kitchen and bath design, and home renovation.
The Villas at Saucon Valley was built and developed by Steve Strelecki and Mike Saklee, who also won a Community of the Year Award for the Woodfields Residential Community adjoining the Villas. They approached the site that was originally zoned for a six story rental apartment building and, in the spirit of giving back to the community, they instead created a twenty eight unit, high-end town house development. The farmhouse style stucco and stone architecture style of the exterior of the villas along with its splendidly landscaped surrounding is both classic and enduring.
