March home sales came in like a lion, according to the most recent data from Trend, the multiple-listing service in the greater Philadelphia area. Across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, the number of houses sold was up compared to March 2012. What’s more, pending sales this year increased dramatically in each county compared to one year ago: Up 15% in Bucks, 21% in Chester, up 16.7% in Delaware, 9.7% in Montgomery and 19.7% in Philadelphia.
Average and median home prices have strengthened except in Bucks County, where a comparison of March 2013 to March 2012 shows a drop of 1.34% (average prices) and 2.59% (median). Philadelphia County home prices showed the biggest gains, with average prices up 16.52% and median prices there up 13.45%.
