Malvern is a quaint borough and a member of Philadelphia’s Main Line suburbs. Like Bala Cynwyd on the far eastern side of the Main Line, the area was founded by Welsh immigrants who purchased land from William Penn. The area continues to evolve. From a small town built around an inn into the modern, engaging borough that exists today, Malvern is moving forward.
As part of the Main Line, Malvern enjoys the accessibility that SEPTA regional rail provides. Riders can enjoy 45 minute rides into Center City, Philadelphia. With plenty of parking, Malvern Station sees quite a few commuters on weekdays. Though it is important to note: Not all residents need to commute long distances to work. With employers such as Vanguard Group, Liberty Property Trust, Siemens Healthcare and more in the area, there are quality employment options available locally.
The borough is also close to some major highways including the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Lancaster Avenue and Route 202. However, the borough itself is spared from major roadways. With safely paced traffic and a concentrated shop and restaurant district, Malvern is a walkable town with coffee shops, pubs, boutiques, a saddlery, furniture and other retail establishments.
There are many options when purchasing a home in the area. There are new construction apartments with modern accouterments, stone homes from the early 1800s and everything in between. Find the commercial center of the town on King Street and residential spaces branching off from there. Picturesque, tree-lined streets abound. The town is also home to Malvern Preparatory school and the Phelps School–highly regarded educational choices.
