Situated at 200 Lombard, or 530 S. 2nd Street, in Philadelphia, Abbotts Square is a large eight-story condominium/townhouse development dating to the mid-1980s. It’s your call whether this block of 2nd Street between Lombard and South Streets is Society Hill or Queen Village — you’ll see Abbotts Square identified as both neighborhoods depending on the resource you consult. The benefit? Easy access to all both neighborhoods offer as well as quick walk to Old City and its galleries, bars and restaurants.
Abbotts Square is named after Abbott’s Dairy (sans apostrophe in the building name), a Philadelphia ice cream/ice milk/all-things-dairy institution (read a bit more about that here), which stood on the site. There are now 171 condominiums in the building on floors 5 through 8. Townhouses make up the lower level of the structure. Square footage ranges from about 600 square feet to 1900 square feet. Some units are beautifully updated; others are looking like the 1980s, but prices will reflect this condition. Some Abbotts Square condos have fabulous city skyline views, and values often related to which side of the building the condo is on.
Amenities include a 24/7 doorman, parking available for rent, and for the upper-level condominiums, fabulous outdoor spaces. Plus, this “in-between” location is extremely convenient for those who enjoy Society Hill, Queen Village and Old City.
