One of THE most sought after communities in all of Bucks County is the borough of Doylestown. It is just a happening place loaded with entertainment, some of the finest restaurants in the region and a great social scene. The Walk Score is over 85, meaning you really don’t need a car if you live in the borough. If you want to visit Philadelphia for any reason, the Doylestown Train line is also in walking distance. Doylestown is also the county seat for Bucks County which means it attracts many upscale business professionals to the community and therefore the income of its residents tends to be much higher than other residential communities. Let’s take a closer look at our latest addition to our list of Spectacular Spaces, the House of Seven Gables.
This corner property is just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown D-Town, as the locals call it. But close enough to walk to great dining opportunities on Main Street, State Street and Oakland Ave. This 3-story brick home is known as the House of Seven Gables for obvious reasons. This view from the back shows you three of those gables.
The home was built in 1875 and was totally restored in recent years. The goal was to maintain as much of the old world charm as possible but to upgrade to many of the modern amenities conducive to today’s needs. The climate control system has been upgraded to multi zone “high velocity” central air conditioning. That means the house cools off in moments. The heat is handled with radiant systems that heats up very quickly in the specific rooms that need attention. This controls energy costs dramatically. This kitchen has been through a thorough makeover.
The center island, hard wood floors and rich wood cabinetry spells WOW to the home chef. A commercial grade stove, tile backsplash add nice accents to the conversations you and your guests will have.
Just under the center peak of third story loft is one of my favorite features. This patio extends from the master bedroom and a great place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee and some quite reading time while listening to the birds sing.
