    Classic Fieldstone Farmhouse - Built to last!--------------------Back in 1795 a prosperous farmer, Atkinson Hughes, completed the first part of his fieldstone home. When the house was completed in 1810, it looked as it does today ? a welcoming sight with a broad front door entering into a residence of classic design. The house includes all its original fine woodwork, seven working fireplaces, spacious center hall, and generously proportioned rooms. It is an authentic example of early Pennsylvania homecraft. It is also a comfortable home, providing ample space for contemporary family life and entertaining.--------------------It is situated in a six acre enclave bounded on two sides by Talamore Country Club and on one side by St. Matthew's Church. Per an easement, the driveway to the property is shared with the Church. On the first floor a spacious center hall opens to a kitchen, a dining room, and a double-sized living room. A laundry room and a powder room are adjacent to the kitchen. A screened in porch completes the first floor. The second floor features four bedrooms plus a full bath and a half-bath. The third floor serves as an apartment. It includes a bedroom and a full bath, as well as a large open area and a storage room.--------------------The house has been owned by just three families since the days of its builders. For about fifty years, until 1967, Sunbeam Water Company bottled water from the spring and a well on the property. Previously, before the days of the Sunbeam Water Company, the property was a part of a large estate assembled by Henry Pratt McKean, a Philadelphia gentleman. McKean developed the spring and piped the water his home, some distance away. The site is presently served by a public sewer, and a connection is in place for adding another residence on the property.--------------------The home has been designated as a Class II Historic Resource by Horsham Township. This provides relief from some zoning requirements, while stipulating that any major alterations would be subject to architectural review.
